Azjah Glover

Hi, my name is Azjah Glover. I am currently studying English and Communication at the University of Dubuque. With my degree, I hope to pursue in the field of Public Relations where I hope to work in a non-profit organization. During my time as an undergraduate, I believe I have encountered many great opportunities that have prepared me for my interested field of work.

 

During a semester of Fall 2014, I attended a Public Relations course where a project helped me understand the methods and routine of a PR professional. With team members, we were to work with a client and solve any issues that they may have. We worked with the student services program, TRIO/SSS where they were having trouble with student awareness. By recognizing this issue and speaking with the Director of TRIO/SSS, we gave them a few suggestons that would get more students interested — such as a social event that includes students outside of TRIO to learn more about it and interact with those involved. This class has prepared me for professional work in PR as it has taught me all theories and provided hands-on work that I need for future reference.

 

An internship in Spring of 2015, I worked with the Academic Affairs department where I had to meet certain expectations from my supervisor and other professors to perform special tasks. During these special tasks, I had to organize information from academic departments that would guide faculty and students to better understand their objective and goals. I also held the responsibility of attending meetings with my advisor and faculties in charge of the project to touch base and gain their perspective that would help me improve. This helped me to manage my time more efficiently and become compliant to the needs of others.
